Sip and Sup On Summer’s Best
If there has been one restaurant opening this summer, there’s been a thousand. We know how busy you are, so here are three of our faves:
Skool is officially in session, and we don’t mean the boring kind. You can sip on the off-street patio, or sup inside with other fish-focused foodies. Either way, you’ll love that the core team of this Portrero Hill hotspot consists of two husband and wife pairs. That, and there’s no corkage fee until the resto gets its liquor license! Make your res for the first weekend brunch on September 11. Located at 1725 Alamenda Street, 415/255-8800. (more…)
SF’s Summer Divas Dine Out
Five o’clock never comes fast enough, especially during the warm months. Luckily, you still have four more hours of sunshine to sip and sup these days when you’re done with your day.
Try something new for happy hour at two already-loved locations:
Cantina’s upping the cocktail ante with their newest Peruvian spirit, Pisco. Just make sure you drink it with a Lima. Located at 580 Sutter Street, 415/398-0195. (more…)
A Diva Gives Ali A Run For Her Men At The 7th Annual SF Bachelor Auction 6/24
One of the hardest parts about living in this city is weeding through all the men. Three-fourths of them aren’t even interested in girls, and the rest? Most are just so. not. it. So when she finds a good one, no smart Diva likes to hear, “going once, going twice…”

The Rosewood… Madera For A Diva
Sometimes San Fran seems to offer such all-or-nothing choices. Swanky with some sleaze vs. low-key and a looser crowd. Good food and drinks served in dingy digs, or ambiance only. What gives?
A five-star locale that actually deserves each star… in the Bay? Get out. But it’s true! You can say goodbye to either-or options this summer at the Rosewood’s newest in luxe and California lovin’ – Madera. (more…)
Di-Viva Italia At Palio D’Asti
Okay, Diva. We’re just going to give this to you in summary. Bullet points are all you need when the offering is this good.
$1 martinis, holler! Free pizza happy hour Monday through Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Daily risotto and wood-baked gnocchi, not to mention 10 seasonal pastas, at a Michelin-rated resto near your office. Don’t worry – it’s now open on Saturdays, too. (more…)
Momma Diva’s Day Out
You appreciate certain people for making you who you are. And then there are those for whom you’re just grateful.
Take Momma Diva. Whether you’re skittish with joy or desperately needing to process, she’s there, so you’re on the scout for a perfect celebratory spot – Mother’s Day is approaching fast!
For the city-living madres, culinary options abound. Peruvian seafood, aka cebiche, is at its peak at La Mar, where you’ll savor the San Francisco sea breeze on a mother-daughter escapade to America del Sur. Romance language devotees may prefer M Day-inspired cocktails at Chez Papa Bistro where Chef Bazirgan wishes all lovely ladies “a bientot.” We know you’re one, so we’re confident yo’ mama is, too. A Diva Can Take It Or Beaver Creek It
Rain, rain, go away. Come again … NEVER.
We know – you’re beyond ready to bid adieu to April’s frizzy locks and hair flops, and say aloha to May. But while you’re waiting, why not take a quick trip to where each drop is dry, and people can’t say snow to Diva?
Welcome to Beaver Creek, Colorado. Here, you ski with the pros on five-star slopes by day, and dine with them by night. The restaurants have the same rating, so be sure you remember your jewels. Uggs, jeans and dripping diamonds never looked so good. It seems beauty is only ski deep after all. (more…)
The City Diva’s Jaunt… To Yountville
Who: Posse Oenophile and wine-derful you
What: The perfect winter wine down….
Wine: Right now! What noir you waiting for?
Where: One of the nicest things about living in San Fran is having Napa in your backyard. And since no one does fine dining like you, what better Valley destination than its culinary epicenter, Yountville? With restaurants owned by celeb chefs Richard Reddington, Thomas Keller AND Michael Chiarello – many with Michelin stars, and all within walking distance – you can’t get much better. We recommend Bottega, but keep your eyes out for Vita, opening soon. (more…)
To A Diva, Reality Matters reading with Anna David 4/29
You seriously despise Vienna. You can’t stop talking about Heidi’s disastrous life (and surgical procedures!). And you STILL think renditions of Tim Gunn asking, “where’s André?” are hilarious. Don’t worry, fretalista – we’re not judging or poking fun. Reality tv is all over our small screens, too.
That’s why we love Reality Matters, Anna David’s newest collection of wry and sometimes poignant essays about the boob tube programs we all love to hate and hate to love. Curious about makes one woman a “Heidi” and another a “Lauren,” or simply wonder just how real any of it really is? Just listen to the best-selling authors who contribute to this book as they dish about the shows that have left them speechless, triumphant, or both. (more…)
